I met The Voyeurist through the hyper Machine site had several bands like RAMONA FALLS, WHITE FENCE and who struck me was The Voyeurist a sound like THE DEAD WEATHER, THE KILLS BLACK AND BELLES and soon I became a fan and that is why I’m posting some of this new band that is not the best in the world is sure to be a band Cult of our century
In existence for little over a year, The Voyeurist was born out of frustration and disaffection in the heart of our nation’s scratty capital. Sarah (vocals) and Richard (guitars/electronics) met anonymously and bonded over previous musical escapades and escapes. If names are an indicator of anything then The Voyeurist points to a sense of exclusion and excommunication, deigned to be forever looking in rather than welcomed warmly.
Having already built up an extensive back catalogue of remixes for the likes of Au Palais, Kool Thing, Visions Of Trees (See their intraview here) and Worship, their self-produced debut EP Hexed dropped last month. Recorded, mixed and mastered against a backdrop of sleeplessness, subsistence and gnawing uncertainty, smooth atmospherics give way to harsh-noise influenced destruction, and disaffection and hard-clipped industrialised percussion stomp brazenly next to clean and diminutive guitar phrasings, whilst old and cracked drum machines wince to a halt like wounded animals.
